This weekend in Falun (Sweden), Therese Johaug was due to make her return to the cross-country skiing world cup after several weeks’ absence. However, theNorwegian Ski Association revealed on Friday, a few minutes after the classic sprint, that the Scandinavian had changed her plans.

“I’m not ill! Plans are made to be changed along the way. Initially, the plan before Christmas was that I wouldn’t do the Tour de Ski, but I still chose to give priority to the tour,” she recalls in a press release. Now I’m making another change and choosing not to do Falun in order to prepare as well as possible for the world championships. I made this decision this morning and in consultation with the coaching team over the last few days.
The 36-year-old cross-country skier will now head to Sjusjøen (Norway) in the next few days to perfect her preparations ahead of the World Championships in Trondheim (Norway), the event for which she has come out of retirement with the aim of winning one last world medal.
