The Gommerlauf classique, a popular 21-kilometre cross-country ski race, took place around the resort of Goms in Switzerland on Saturday. In the canton of Valais, two French cross-country sk iers won the race.
In the women’s race, Amélie Suiffet put in a solid performance to cross the finish line after more than 56 minutes of effort, ahead of Léonie Harivel, her team-mate from Team Nordic Expérience Coste – Fromageries Marcel Petite. Switzerland’s Bianca Buholzer came third.

In the men’s race, Thomas Joly lived up to his billing. The Doubiste from Team Ramudden crossed the line in first place after just 52 minutes of racing. Behind him, Bastien Laurent from Team Nordic Expérience held his nerve, giving up just 7 seconds to his rival of the day. Antoine Millet, another member of the French team, rounded off the day’s top 3.
