Cross-country skiing : Astrid Oeyre Slind beats Therese Johaug to the line
On Sunday afternoon, it was the women’s cross-country skiers who brought the third day of competition in the 2024/2025 edition of the Tour de Ski to a close. AfterHarald Oestberg Amundsen’s crushing victory in the men’s race, the women’s competition was much more closely contested.
Astrid Oeyre Slind put in a benchmark performance, but was never at the front of the field in the intermediate stages. Gradually back in contention for the podium, the Norwegian even went one better by taking the event from Therese Johaug.

Crossing the line just three seconds ahead of her compatriot in the best climber jersey, the Scandinavian continued to impress at the start of the season, picking up her second win of the winter after her victory in the individual classic in Davos (Switzerland) on 15 December.
Behind the two Norwegians, Kerttu Niskanen is also back on the podium. Already on the podium in the classic mass-start on Sunday, the Finn will have a great chance to win this Wednesday, twenty seconds off the lead in the classic pursuit, her preferred style.

At the foot of the podium, Katherine Stewart-Jones pulled off a magnificent feat. The Canadian came back at full speed in the final hectometres and crossed the line just 7 seconds behind the top 3 to claim her first career top 5 at the age of 29. Sixth-placed Jessie Diggins retains the overall lead of the tour.
Mélissa Gal and Léonie Perry follow each other in the rankings
In the French clan, it was Mélissa Gal from Haut-Savoie who put in the best performance of the day. The skier from the Pays rochois had a bad day during Sunday’s mass start, crossing the line in thirty-fifth place.

Just behind her, Léonie Perry, who skied for a while with Therese Johaug at the start of the race, finally took thirty-sixth place. Léna Quintin was forty-fourth, while Julie Pierrel was fifty-fourth.
