Cross-country skiing: 5th place for Edvin Anger
On Saturday, Edvin Anger, despite being knocked out in the semi-finals of the sprint skate in Toblach (Italy), gave Sweden its best result in the men’s race. On Sunday, it was again the Åsarna IK member who had his team’s best result in the mass-start classic. He took part in a grouped final run and finished in fifth place, 2.3 seconds behind the winner, Norway’s Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo. ” It’s unusual but certainly something I can do more often”, commented the athlete in his country’s media (quoted by Aftonbladet). According to him, it’s “a sign that he’s in good shape”.

“We had some really good equipment under our feet, so the technicians deserve a lot of credit. All we have to do now is keep up the pace,” added Edvin Anger on Viaplay after crossing the finish line.
Never before had the big twenty-two year old, who is also fighting for the green jersey of best U23, done so well over a distance. He had never even finished in the top 10. As we know, sprints are his favourite format. In the overall classification, he is 4th, 38 seconds behind the leader.
William Poromaa, who was hampered by Martin Loewstroem Nyenget during the race, finished tenth.
