Cross-country skiing: “good for morale”, says Norwegian
He warned us. After his fall during Saturday’s skiathlon in Val di Fiemme (Italy), Simen Hegstad Krueger had“aggression” to spare. It has to be said that his chances of a place on the final podium had been totally dashed.
On Sunday, he took his revenge and brilliantly won the climb of Alpe Cermis, the final event of the Tour de Ski. Only Austrian Mika Vermeulen was able to keep up with him when he attacked. ” It was good for morale,” he said on Viaplay after his victory.
This is the third time that the Norwegian has won at the top of the Alpine ski slope.

“He was hyper aerial, he had giclette (sic). A real Krueger. He didn’t even collapse at the finish. Imperial,” praised Maurice Manificat, speaking to Eurosport.
“It’s absolutely incredible that you can climb that slope so quickly and effortlessly,” said NRK public television commentator Jann Post (quoted by Nettavisen).
A nod to history: Simen Hegstad Krueger raised both hands to the sky, just as Petter Northug Jr did in his heyday. Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo had also already imitated his elder in tribute.
