Cross-country skiing : Frida Karlsson skips the Tour de Ski
Just a few minutes after the announcement of the Finnish selection for the Tour de Ski from 28 December to 5 January, it was Sweden’s turn to unveil the athletes it has chosen for this flagship event in the cross-country skiing world cup.
And unlike that of the Finns, the Scandinavian list revealed a notable absence. Frida Karlsson had started the winter in the best possible way with a foot injury in the summer, winning the opening stage in Ruka (Finland). However, the Swede ended up feeling some pain and therefore did not take part in the competitions in Davos (Switzerland).
Doubtless still embarrassed, the 25-year-old cross-country skier will not be lining up for the Tour de Ski, the competition she won in 2023. However, Ebba Andersson, Maja Dahlqvist, Johanna Hagstroem, Moa Ilar, Moa Lundgren, Linn Svahn and the young Maerta Rosenberg will all be there.
And unlike the women’s squad, there are no surprises in the men’s group. Calle Halfvarsson will be there, as will William Poromaa and Edvin Anger, as well as Gustaf Berglund, Jens Burman, Emil Danielsson, Truls Gisselman, Marcus Grate and Oskar Svensson.
