Therese Johaug showed no fear on Sunday 5 January to win her fourth Tour de Ski. As impressive as ever on the terrible climb ofAlpe Cermis (Italy), the Norwegian came to claim a ninth victory at the summit of this prestigious climb.

And nobody was able to stop her from taking off. Alone in the world on the slope, the rider who now has sixteen victories on the tour didn’t falter in increasing her lead as the kilometres went by. Having returned to racing at the start of the winter to prepare for the World Championships in Trondheim (Norway), the Scandinavian had initially not planned to line up at the start of this nineteenth edition.
And it seems that her thirst for success has proved her right. By taking first place in the overall classification for the fourth time in her career, she equalled another legend, Poland’s Justyna Kowalczyk. At the same time, she took the opportunity to win the general classification for the best female climber, a new feature of this 2024/2025 edition.

Behind her, Astrid Oeyre Slind held her nerve to finish second in Sunday’s race. A solid performance for the woman who had never before climbed Alpe Cermis. Second overall, the Norwegian even strengthened her lead over Jessie Diggins, sixth today. Last year’s winner, the American this time was no match for the reign of the two Scandinavian cross-country skiers.
