. Janusz Brugger will soon want to forget this skiathlon held on Saturday in Val di Fiemme as part of the Tour de Ski. The German was caught red-handed. In the classic section, he skied with the skating step and was caught by the patrol. For this breach of the rules, he could just as easily have received a yellow card. But the jury disqualified him.
As Marc Steuer, his coach, explains, he had the choice of continuing the competition with a three-minute time penalty – a penalty that will be added to the overall ranking tomorrow evening – or withdrawing. Janusz Brugger chose to start the Alpe Cermis climb on Sunday.

In the morning, rumours circulated that his compatriot Friedrich Moch was among the many athletes who had caught a cold. Nothing of the sort happened. He finished 6th in the day’s race.
