Cross-country skiing: Therese Johaug is interested in more than just the 50km World Championships
Norwegian cross-country skiing star Therese Johaug is ambitious for her return to competition. “I feel a bit arrogant when I say that I’m not coming back to fight for sixth or tenth place,” she told NRK.
The multiple Olympic champion has announced that she is making a comeback to win gold in the 50km skate at the world championships in Trondheim (Norway) at the beginning of March. But Therese Johaug doesn’t just want to shine in this race : “I’m also thinking about the skiathlon, the individual 10-kilometre classic and, of course, the relay. I want to be part of it,” she says.

Only the sprint events could therefore take place without Therese Johaug. “If she goes as fast as she did at the 2021 Worlds in Oberstdorf, she’ll win [the four competitions she’ll take part in]”, says Torgeir Bjoern, consultant for Norwegian public television.
