Cross-country skiing: Ebba Andersson even stronger than Therese Johaug in Trondheim
It took a hell of a lot of courage to go for gold on Tuesday in the individual classic at the world cross-country skiing championships in Trondheim (Norway). In the snow and at the end of a final straight where the tracks disappeared with every passing minute, Ebba Andersson was the cross-country skier who came out on top.

With a supersonic finish, the Swede won another gold medal after her thrilling win in the skiathlon. And this time, the 27-year-old beat Therese Johaug by just one second and three tenths.
This new world title means that she has now overtaken her compatriot Jonna Sundling and her three gold medals to become the most successful Swedish individual athlete at this global event. Her performance is all the more impressive given that she won the skiathlon, the mass-start and now the individual.

“I’m very surprised to win today. I knew straight away that we were neck and neck with Therese,” the winner told NRK. It was completely crazy to race in such conditions. I was convinced that Therese was going too fast for me, but in the end it worked out in my favour!

Therese Johaug returned to competition at the start of the winter after two years’ retirement to prepare for these world championships on home soil, and now has just one objective: to exact her revenge in the last race of the fortnight, which will be none other than the 50km skate scheduled for Sunday.

“I’m now very determined to get my revenge in the 50 kilometre event. I came back to the circuit with the main aim of winning this competition,” recalls the woman who became a mother during her two-season break. So I’m really looking forward to this race.
