Cross-country skiing: Norway unplayable at home
A few minutes after Sweden’s victory in the women’s race, it was the turn of the cross-country skiers to compete in the classic team sprint of the cross-country skiing world championships in Trondheim (Norway). It was the Norwegians Erik Valnes and Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo who came out on top. As in the women’s event, this same duo had already won at the World Championships inOberstdorf (Germany) in 2021.

For Norway, it was the fourth consecutive title in the event and the seventh in eleven editions. Another victory achieved after a race dominated from start to finish in front of a capacity crowd. ByErik Valnes‘ second stint, the gap to the competition had already been established. This lead only increased throughout the race, allowing Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo to take a final lap of honour in his backyard in Granåsen (Norway). The latter thus continues his harvest with his fourth title in four races.

On the line, the Norwegians edged out Finland’s Ristomatti Hakola and Lauri Vuorinen, who took second place after a great battle on the final lap. The Swedish team – made up ofOskar Svensson andEdvin Anger – took bronze after a crazy final lap fromEdvin Anger. The 22-year-old Swede used all his power in the final straight to beat Italy’s Federico Pellegrino.
French disappointment for Jules Chappaz and Richard Jouve
On the French side, hopes were high after Jules Chappaz and Richard Jouve finished third in qualifying. Richard Jouve was in touch with second place right up to the final climb, but was unable to keep up with the final acceleration and had to settle for fifth place.

The French team is still chasing its first medal of the World Championships in Trondheim (Norway).
