The men’s events at the world cross-country skiing championships in Trondheim (Norway) come to a close this Saturday with the eagerly awaited 50-kilometre skate. In this legendary event, many will be hoping to claim the coveted title of world champion from 11:30 onwards.

With Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo aiming for a sixth gold medal and a historic Grand Slam, the French will also be serious contenders in an event that rarely takes place on the World Cup circuit. Defending France’s chances will be Hugo Lapalus, Mathis Desloges, Jules Lapierre and Victor Lovera, who will be making his first appearance on the world stage in this long-distance competition.

And while they are used to competing in rain or snow, this time the athletes should not be affected by any precipitation. However, strong gusts of wind are expected on site, as has been the case in recent days at the Granåsen venue.
