By brilliantly winning the skiathlon at the world cross-country skiing championships in Trondheim (Norway) on Saturday afternoon, Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo didn’t just win his first world title in the distance.
It was also her eleventh world crown and, above all, the 70th gold medal won by Norway in its history at the World Cross-Country Skiing Championships out of the 178 awarded to date. An impressive total, which logically makes the Scandinavian kingdom the most successful country in the competition.

Behind them, Sweden took 38 and Finland 30, while France has been stuck at one since Vincent Vittoz won the double pursuit in Oberstdorf (Germany) in 2005.
