Cross-country skiing : 100 World Cup victories for King Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo
Seconds after Johanna Hagstroem ‘s victory in the women’s race, it was the turn of the cross-country skiers to compete in the classic sprint in Trondheim (Norway). On home soil, on a track he knows perfectly well and where he scored a historic grand slam at the World Championships last March, Norway’s Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo won.

One sprint follows another for Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo. The Norwegian dominated the finals on the Granåsen track with the same mastery. Winner of the quarter-finals and semi-finals, the Scandinavian imposed his law in the final to claim his hundredth World Cup victory.
In the final race, the 29-year-old cross-country skier finished ahead of two up-and-coming young sprint talents. His compatriot Oskar Opstad Vike took second place and his second World Cup podium, following his third place in Falun (Sweden) last winter in the same discipline.

The podium was completed by the young Swedish nugget, Alvar Myhlback, aged just 19. Wearing the green bib of best U23 and holder of the Vasaloppet title , he once again demonstrated all his talent and versatility. It was his first World Cup podium.

The young guard was well represented in the final. In his very first World Cup start, Norway’s Lars Heggen – three-times world junior champion last winter in Schilpario (Italy) – finished a very fine fourth at just twenty years of age.
Norwegians Erik Valnes and Ansgar Evensen, who both finished on the podium last weekend in Ruka (Finland), complete the rankings for this final.

In the French camp, Jules Chappaz and Richard Jouve were stopped in the quarter-finals, where they finished fourth in their heat. They finished 17th and 19th respectively.
