Cross-country skiing: unchallenged Sweden in the sprint
Just minutes before Oskar Svensson and Edvin Anger took the podium in the men’s classic sprint team at the World Cross-Country Skiing Championships in Trondheim (Norway), Sweden also made a name for itself in the women’s race, with Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist achieving tremendous success.

Following on from her incredible victory in the women’s sprint skate to open this Scandinavian fortnight, Jonna Sundling struck another blow by leading the race from start to finish. Her attacking tactics paid off, as she was able to launch Maja Dahlqvist into the best possible position at every turn.
“I’m so happy to have Jonna in my team. She helped me a lot today”, Jonna told Viaplay in the mixed zone. At the finish, the pair were able to savour their victory for a long time, winning by a comfortable margin of nearly 3 seconds.

In this competition format, the Swedes have not shared since 2019. In fact, in Seefeld (Austria), Oberstdorf (Germany) in 2021, and Planica (Slovenia) in 2023, the Scandinavians have won the team sprint every time. In 2021, it was already Jonna Sundling and Maja Dahlqvist who were the strongest in Germany.

As stratospheric as ever , Jonna Sundling has won every one of her team sprint titles at this world event. A consistency that never ceases to impress.
