Cross-country skiing : three Frenchmen still in the running for the men’s skiathlon
This Saturday, the men’s and women’s skiathlons bring the “traditional” events of the Tour de Ski to a close. Before the final ascent to the summit of Alpe Cermis (Italy) on Sunday, the athletes in the cross-country skiing world cup caravan first have to tackle the day’s 20km classic and then the skate.

At 11 a.m., it will be the men who will open the ball on the Val di Fiemme (Italy) slopes, Olympic tracks for the Milan/Cortina Games scheduled for 2026. A mass-start format will see Johannes Hoesflot Klæbo , first in the general classification of the tour, open the starting gate. The distinctive jerseys will take pride of place on the front line with Janik Riebli – by proxy – and Andrew Musgrave, wearing silver and purple bibs.

Hugo Lapalus will be the first Frenchman on the start line with number 8. Mathis Desloges will wear number 13, while Rémi Bourdin will wear number 18. In the women’s race, no Frenchwoman is still competing following the withdrawal of Léna Quintin and Mélissa Gal after the classic sprint. At 3.30pm, Astrid Oeyre Slind will proudly don her gold leader’s bib alongside Nadine Faehndrich in silver and Therese Johaug in purple.
