12:57. This Saturday morning, the 2025/2026 Finnish cross-country skiing cup kicked off on the snowfarm in Vuokatti (Finland) with the skate sprints. In this first cross-country skiing competition of the season, Ike Melnits came out on top, narrowly beating Olli Ahonen and Valtteri Pennanen in the final.

In the women’s race, a few minutes earlier, it was Hilla Niemelä, runner-up in the U23 world championship in 2024, who won. In the final, she beat Amanda Saari and Tiia Olkkonen, who had set the fastest time in the qualifying round earlier in the day. Krista Pärmäkoski finished sixth.
