This Saturday, a 12-kilometre individual skating cross-country race was organised on the Vuokatti track (Finland) as part of the Kainuu Talvikisat, a national competition.
A number of top Finnish cross-country skiers were at the start. Remi Lindholm won the men’s race with a time of 25 min 46 sec 1. Perttu Hyvärinen, at 9 sec 5, and Emil Liekari, at 13 sec 2, completed the podium ahead of Ristomatti Hakola, Japan’s Naoto Baba and Eero Rantala, winner last weekend of the opening sprint of the Finnish Cup.
A few minutes later, in the women’s race, Anne Kyllönen dominated from start to finish. Challenged by Anni Alakoski, she eventually won by 15 sec 7 while Katri Lylynperä took third place 1 min 22 sec 8… a breath ahead of Maija Tiainen. Vilma Ryytty and Eveliina Piippo follow in the rankings.
