Cross-country skiing: a sprint skate team to round off the course
After a few weeks of work in Font-Romeu (Pyrénées-Orientales) at the beginning of September, marked by absences and adjustments linked to Covid, the French cross-country skiers met up with almost their full complement in Prémanon (Jura) last week. This final autumn training camp provided an opportunity to rebuild the tricolour team.

It was great to be back with almost the entire squad,” Alexandre Pouyé, coach of the women’s group, told Nordic Magazine. In Font-Romeu, we had to adapt quite a bit with the Covid and some early returns home. This time, we really felt the collective strength of the group coming back together.
A new-found unity, despite the particular context. The absence of Flora Dolci, who was seriously injured, weighed on the morale of the group, but it also served as an anchor to strengthen ties. “We took the time to talk about it with the girls, to take stock. It was important for everyone.

At Prémanon, the Bleues alternated technical sessions, endurance work and confrontations. ” We relied heavily on the centre’s facilities and the expertise of Jonas Forot [head of science and high performance support at the CNSNMM, editor’s note], who worked with us on a number of themes. We also took advantage of the Jura roads for aerobic outings, and the Tuffes track for specific, intensive sessions.
The course concluded with an Olympic-format sprint skate team. ” What we wanted to see was density and speed, and that’s what we saw,” explains the technician.
