As the 2025/2026 winter season gets underway, the Finnish Nordic combined team’s staff is being strengthened. On Thursday, the Finnish Association announced the arrival of Austrian Cristoph Eugen as assistant coach for one season. The 49-year-old, who was head coach of the Austrian team between 2012 and 2023, joins the staff headed by Antti Kuisma.
“Christoph and I are long-time competitors and colleagues. I think our views on the development and future of the Finnish combined team are the same. He fits in perfectly with the dynamics of our team, both as a person and as a coach,” said Antti Kuisma in a press release from the Finnish Nordic Ski Association.

Cristoph Eugen has already spent a few days in Finland, familiarising himself with the group of athletes. He is also arriving with the aim of helping the development of Eero Hirvonen, Wille Karhumaa and Heta Hirvonen, among others.
“I had a great time in Finland and the team gave me a warm welcome. The training conditions and facilities in Lahti are of a high standard and it was great to be able to work with the athletes. My aim as assistant coach is to provide the best possible support to the team and the technical staff. We’ll now be able to share responsibilities effectively and provide better support for the individual players,” concludes the Austrian.
