Nordic Combined: the men’s team event disappears and the women compete on the big hill in Falun
In the last few hours, Lasse Ottesen, Race Director of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), spoke to NRK about the 2027 Nordic World Ski Championships, which will be held on the slopes and jumps of Falun (Sweden).

During this interview, the Norwegian took the opportunity to reveal a number of proposed changes that have been made in recent weeks. The first concerns the men’s team competition, which is set to disappear and be replaced by a women’s team sprint and a men’s team sprint.
“Organising a team competition is fun and enjoyable, but bringing together four athletes from each nation is a real challenge. We hope that more nations will take part in a team sprint with two athletes, which will make the event even more exciting,” says the Scandinavian.

Still with the aim of moving towards equity between the two genders, Lasse Ottesen also mentioned the possibility of seeing the combined events start from the Swedish big springboard in 2027: “Above all, it’s a question of having an identical programme for girls and boys. It makes sense given the development of the women and their ability to take off from the big jumps,” explained the former jumper.
