Nordic combined: Marion Droz-Vincent in the World Cup
Little by little, the French women’s Nordic combined is coming into its own. After several winters in which Léna Brocard from Dauphiné, a pioneer of the discipline in France, was the only Frenchwoman to compete in the World Cup, Romane Baud and Marion Droz-Vincent are knocking on the door.
While the former was lucky enough to discover the big wide world at the end of last winter, it’s now the turn of the SC Verrières/La Cluse member to be selected for the World Cup for the first time. The competition starts this Thursday in Seefeld (Austria).

“This World Cup was on the programme for the season, but it wasn’t 100% certain that we’d go, Marion Droz-Vincent explained to Nordic Magazine. It depended on our results, and as they were good in the FESA Cup and then in the Continental Cup, the staff decided to take us there with Romane [Baud]. It’s really cool to be able to do my first one at my age, I’m still young.”
A carpentry student in parallel with her sporting career, the 17-year-old from Doubs is understandably delighted to have been selected: “It was a dream of mine when I was little, so it’s really good that it’s come true, even if I think it’s going to be hard to string together the three races,” she says with a smile.
Competing with Romane Baud for a place at the Trondheim Worlds
Marion Droz-Vincent is making her World Cup debut at the Seefeld Triple, where she will compete in three consecutive events on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “As this is my first time on the circuit, I’m going to try to enjoy myself as much as possible over the three days, and we’ll see what the result is at the end,” she says.

Finally, this Austrian weekend will be more than just a discovery for Marion Droz-Vincent. On Sunday evening, the technical staff will decide whether she or Romane Baud will accompany Léna Brocard to the World Championships in Trondheim (Norway) to take part in the individual and mixed team competitions.
