Nordic Combined: a podium finish on the last day of the race in 2025 for Laurent Muhlethaler
It wasn’t until the very last event of the Nordic combined season that a Frenchman made it onto the podium in one of the winter’s many events. After a superb jump a few hours earlier on the springboard in Lahti (Finland), Laurent Muhlehtaler confirmed his current fine form in the gundersen cross-country ski pursuit.

Cleverly positioned over the 10 kilometres of the course, the Frenchman took advantage of the good cross-country skier Julian Schmid to gradually secure his place on the podium. And even though he lost ground on the German towards the end of the course, with Finland’s Ilkka Herola also coming back at breakneck speed, the Jurassien held on until the line.
The 27-year-old Premanonier fought his way to the end of the race to claim his second individual podium, following on from his victory on 12 February 2023 on the slopes of Schonach, Germany. Ahead of him, Austrian Johannes Lamparter didn’t hesitate to claim his second win of the weekend, just over 20 seconds ahead of Julian Schmid.

In the French ranks, behind the recital of Laurent Muhlethaler, Marco Heinis recovered well on his skis after a difficult race on Friday. The Doubiste skier finished just outside the top 20 in twenty-first place. Gaël Blondeau and Maël Tyrode made up a few places by finishing 36th and 37th. Edgar Vallet closed the Bleus ranking in forty-sixth place.
