Nordic Combined: two men for third place
On Friday in Lahti (Finland), Johannes Lamparter claimed his second victory of the season in the Nordic Combined World Cup. The weekend couldn’t have got off to a better start for the Tyrolean. “Unfortunately, we weren’t able to jump. It was too windy on the jump so we used the pocket jump. Fortunately, I had a very good jump yesterday [Friday],” commented the athlete in a statement from his federation. Today’s race wasn’t easy. The conditions were difficult. That’s why the race was a challenge. Nevertheless, I felt great and I had very good skis. So it was a very good day for me.

In January, he had already won in Schonach, Germany. He was then selected to represent Austria at the 2025 Nordic Combined World Championships in Trondheim, Norway, alongside team-mates Stefan Rettenegger, Martin Fritz, Fabio Obermeyr, Thomas Rettenegger and Franz-Josef Rehrl.
Johannes Lamparter went home with two medals: a silver in the individual Gundersen big jump event, behind Norway’s Jarl Magnus Riiber, and a bronze in the team event.
On Saturday, he could finish third overall, just ahead of Germany’s Vinzenz Geiger and Scandinavian Jarl Magnus Riiber who, suffering from a chronic intestinal disease, ended his career last weekend in Oslo (Norway).

Unless Julian Schmid, winner of the PCR, comes along to put a spanner in his works. He took third place in the day’s race, his seventh podium of the season.
“Third place is fine. It’s still a podium. I was hoping for a bit better today, but my body didn’t help me. I really felt bad on the third and fourth laps. I had to fight hard on the climbs. That’s why I think I can be satisfied, and at the end of the day, a podium is a podium”, declared the combined rider from Oberstdorf (Germany).
Julian Schmid is now twenty-two points behind the Austrian in the overall rankings ahead of Sunday’s final competition.
