Victory again went to a German on Sunday in the final event of the opening weekend of the Nordic combined world cup. And this time, following on from Johannes Rydzek‘ s victory on Saturday, it was Vinzenz Geiger (133.5 metres) who came out on top after the mass-start jumping competition.
At ease on the springboard, the 27-year-old did his job to claim his eleventh career victory on the circuit. He also denied Jarl Magnus Riiber (134.5 metres) another elite success. However, the Norwegian went down in the history books with his hundredth podium finish. And that’s not all. Behind him, Germany’s Manuel Faisst (132 metres) completed the top 3.
In the French clan, after an excellent landing jump at 135 metres, Laurent Muhlethaler put a smile back on his face by finishing thirteenth, just behind Norway’s Joergen Graabak (125 metres). Doubiste Mattéo Baud (114 metres) finished twenty-eighth, his team-mate Marco Heinis (128.5 metres) was thirty-third andEdgar Vallet (104 metres) forty-first.
