11:03. One day follows another and no two days are alike for Marco Heinis. The day after his fourth place in the pocket jump at Oberhof (Germany), the Frenchman only managed the 27th jump of the compact on Saturday 17 January. He will start 1 min 10 off the lead at 12.30 and has already lost all hope of doing well.
His compatriot Laurent Muhlethaler didn’t do much better. 23rd, he started 1 min 05 behind. The other Frenchmen started in groups, with Edgar Vallet (36th) 1 min 25 behind and Maël Tyrode (37th) and Mattéo Baud (49th) 1 min 30 behind.

The jumping competition was dominated by an Austrian trio. Franz-Josef Rehrl beat Thomas (2nd, 6 seconds behind) and Stefan Rettenegger (3rd, 12 seconds behind). But the big move came from Jens Luraas Oftebro. The day after his third place in the reserve jump, he put in the fourth best performance and will start just 17 seconds behind the leader.
The best cross-country skier on the circuit will have the opportunity to claim his first victory of the season, after two second places in Ramsau (Austria). Austrian overall leader Johannes Lamparter will start 6th at 26 seconds, and Germany’s Julian Schmid only 12th at 42 seconds.
