A few weeks ago, Jarl Magnus Riiber surprised the entire Nordic combined caravan by announcing that he would be calling time on his career at the end of the 2024/2025 winter season. Affected by Crohn’s disease, the Norwegian is suffering too much to continue until the Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina (Italy).

And in the last few hours, after sweeping all before him at the World Championships in Trondheim (Norway), the 27-year-old has revealed that he is already close to finding a new position in the sport. The Scandinavian could well become a coach with the Norwegian Ski Association.
“We’re getting closer and closer,” he told NTB. However, the boss of the Norwegian combined event, Ivar Stuan , tempered his protégé’s comments. “We’re quite far from it. We’ve talked a lot about these things, but we promised ourselves not to talk about them too much before the end of the World Cup,” he recalls. But now we can start moving forward quite quickly.
