This Friday afternoon, the men’s Nordic combined races met in Otepää (Estonia) for a 10km cross-country mass-start, the opening event of this new leg of the Nordic combined world cup.
At the end of a very tight race, Vinzenz Geiger confirmed his current good momentum. After his victory in the Triple at Seefeld (Austria) last Sunday, he scored another victory by beating Norwegians Jarl Magnus Riiber and Jens Luraas Oftebro in the sprint. Gaël Blondeau was the best Frenchman, finishing a fine eighth at 2 sec 6.

The other French riders were well placed, with Laurent Muhlethaler fifteenth at 16 sec 1, Mattéo Baud twenty-first at 17 sec 8 and Edgar Vallet thirty-fourth at 46 sec 3. Marco Heinis was in more difficulty, in fiftieth place at 1 min 41.
The jumping competition scheduled for the late afternoon promises to be indecisive. After converting time differences into points, the top eleven athletes are all within the same point.
