10:17. Norway’s Ingrid Laate won the two pocket jumps at the World Cup in Otepää (Estonia) on Thursday 8 January. Leading the ranking of female jumpers, she asserted her position on the reserve jumps of the gundersen (102 m, 8 m further than her runner-up) and the compact (94.5 m, best jump).
If the jumping competitions are cancelled on Saturday 10 (gundersen, at 10.45am) and Sunday 11 (compact, at 11.30am), this ensures that she will be in the lead on the cross-country tracks. But while her lead would be substantial in the gundersen (1 min 12 over Norway’s Ida Marie Hagen), it would be minimal in the compact because of the format (6 sec over Finland’s Minja Korhonen).
France’s Léna Brocard appeared to be in the background on these reserve jumps in the third World Cup stage of the season. She had to make do with the 21st jump (80 m) in the gundersen, and 19th in the compact (81 m), out of 33 competitors.
