14:04. Japan’s Ryota Yamamoto won the compact jumping competition in Otepää (Estonia) on Sunday 11 January. He will therefore start six seconds ahead of the Estonian World Cup cross-country ski pursuit (start at 15:30). Austrian World Cup leader Johannes Lamparter will be his runner-up, and has pulled off another fine operation.

Further back, the Austrians Thomas (4th) and Stefan Rettenegger (5th) will start with 17 and 22 seconds to spare. 7th and 8th, the Germans Johannes Rydzek and Vinzenz Geiger will start 30 and 33 seconds after the Japanese. Norway’s Einar Luraas Oftebro will have something to play for on the day after his first World Cup victory. He will start 9th at 36 seconds, while his brother Jens Luraas Oftebro will have to make yet another comeback (25th at 1 min 10).

Fortunes varied for the five French riders taking part. Marco Heinis , disadvantaged by the format, started 10th at 38 seconds. The others will start in different waves: Laurent Muhlethaler at 1 min 20 (31st), Maël Tyrode at 1 min 25 (36th), Edgar Vallet (31st) and Mattéo Baud (47th) at 1 min 30.
