The Germans dominated the cross-country pursuit at the Nordic Combined World Cup gundersen in Ruka (Finland) on Saturday. Johannes Rydzek, who impressed on the springboard in the morning, consolidated his comfortable lead to secure his first victory on the circuit after more than five years on the sidelines.
And this success was celebrated for a long time in the finish area as the German was joined on the podium by two of his compatriots. Julian Schmid and Vinzenz Geiger rounded off the top 3, just one minute behind their team-mate, ahead of the ogre Jarl Magnus Riiber, who will have to wait for his hundredth podium in the elite category.
For the Blues, the race was more complicated. The best of them was Marco Heinis, twenty-second as he crossed the line. Behind him, Laurent Muhlethaler finished twenty-eighth, Mattéo Baud thirtieth and Edgar Vallet rounded off the French ranking in forty-sixth place.
