Nordic combined: victory for Jens Luraas Oftebro in Schonach
The men’s gundersen cross-country ski pursuit in Schonach (Germany) on Saturday was full of surprises. The overall leader, JarlMagnus Riiber, winner of the morning jumping competition, collapsed at the end of the race, leaving Jens Luraas Oftebro to win.
In great form, he made up his minute’s deficit lap after lap. Still 44 seconds behind the leader at the halfway point, the chasing group he was part of didn’t give up. Led by the youngest Oftebro brother, the gap narrowed. Finally, the group caught up with Riiber, who had run out of steam in the final kilometre.

In the sprint, Jens Luraas Oftebro took victory ahead of Johannes Lamparter and Ikka Herola. Jarl Magnus Riiber only finished sixth. The best Frenchman, Laurent Muhlethaler, was sixteenth. Gaël Blondeau was thirty-first, Mattéo Baud thirty-second, Marco Heinis thirty-sixth and Edgar Vallet forty-fourth.
