In the opening round of the Nordic Combined World Cup in Seefeld (Austria), the men had a date this Thursday afternoon on the 109-metre Austrian springboard.
It was the reserve jump that was on the programme. With a superb jump of 106 metres, Austria’s Thomas Rettenegger won on home soil ahead of his compatriot Franz-Josef Rehrl (101.5 metres) and the overall World Cup leader Jarl Magnus Riiber (100.5 metres). Riiber announced on Wednesday that he was retiring from the sport at the end of the winter.

On the French side, Laurent Muhlethaler (97 metres) was twentieth, Gaël Blondeau (90 metres) fortieth, Edgar Vallet (90.5 metres) forty-second and Mattéo Baud (90 metres) forty-sixth. Marco Heinis was disqualified.
