Second after the jump – two seconds behind the Austrians – Johannes Rydzek, Wendelin Thannheimer, Julian Schmid and Vinzenz Geiger managed to get the better of the Austrian team. However, in the first stint, Johannes Lamparter pushed the experienced Johannes Rydzek, who had fallen in a downhill, into a corner. The Austrians broke away and took a 12-second lead at the end of the first stint.

Then Wendelin Thannheimer and Julian Schmid did the work to close the gap and set up a final duel between Vinzenz Geiger and the young Fabio Obermeyr. On the final climb, Vinzenz Geiger put in a big acceleration that the Austrian was unable to follow. Germany are back on top in this event after winning the title in Lahti (Finland) in 2017.
