Nordic combined: Gyda Westvold Hansen strikes first
This Thursday afternoon, the Nordic combined events at the world championships in Trondheim (Norway) kicked off with the women’s mass-start cross-country skiing race.
In this 5km race, the pace was immediately very fast, allowing five girls to break away in the first of the two 2,500m laps. It was these girls who went on to win, and in the spring snow, Gyda Westvold Hansen came out on top.

As she goes through this difficult season, the Norwegian takes a few points advantage before the ski jumping competition scheduled for later in the afternoon. Marte Leinan Lund is second at 2 sec 0, Yuna Kasai third at 3 sec 6, Nathalie Armbruster fourth at 4 sec 2 and Ida Marie Hagen, fifth at 7 sec 0 after a small fall before the final pack.

On the French side, Léna Brocard from Dauphiné, after an energetic start to the race, lost time and fell back to tenth place in the hierarchy, 31.7 seconds behind the winner. She will be 7.9 points behind at the start of the jumping round.

Marion Droz-Vincent was twenty-fourth at 1 min 33 sec 7 in her very first start in a senior world championship.
