11:10. A few minutes after the waiting race led by the men, Norway’s Ida Marie Hagen took on her responsibilities from the outset by attacking on the second bump of the course. The yellow bib rider then progressed at her own pace, constantly increasing her lead over the 5-kilometre course. From 14 seconds at the halfway stage, she improved to 18” after 3.7 km and was 19” ahead at the finish.

In his wake, the peloton exploded in clusters, depending on the ski level of the combined racers. Norwegian Marte Leinan Lund counter-attacked in the final hectometres to snatch second place. The day after her first World Cup podium, American Alexia Brabec finished third (+22”). Her compatriot Tara Geratghty-Moats confirmed her good feeling since her return from biathlon and crossed the line 6th (+23”), just ahead of Nathalie Armbruster (+25”).

The race scenario had one main victim: Norway’s Ingrid Laate. Largely left behind, the best jumper on the circuit had a very bad day. She crossed the line 2:04 behind the leader. It will be difficult for her to close this gap during the jumping competition, scheduled for 2.50pm.

Positioned in the main pack, France’s Léna Brocard was back in the spotlight after a complicated first race (23rd). She finished 14th, 39 seconds off the lead and 20 off the podium. Her compatriots were further back: Marion Droz-Vincent exploded on the second lap and finished 24th (+1 min 21). Romane Baud had to make do with 30th place (+1 min 50).
