12:06. Franz-Josef Rehrl is in fine form. The day after his victory in the mass start of the Nordic Combined World Cup in Trondheim (Norway), the Austrian posted the best jump (137.5 m) on the day’s HS138 gundersen. He will take the lead in cross-country skiing (14:05), ahead of his compatriot Johannes Lamparter (133 m, +12 seconds), wearing the yellow bib.

Behind them, Germany’s Wendelin Thannheimer confirmed the success of his first World Cup podium. He kept a lot of height on his jump, landing at 139.5 m and starting at 17 seconds. Finland’s Ilkka Herola started fourth at 21 seconds (131.5 m), with Austria’s Paul Walcher much further back at 54 seconds (5th, 131 m). Japan’s Sora Yachi was in the hot seat for a long time, coming off the jump with a strong commitment and landing 135.5 metres. His strong performance enabled him to start in 6th place, 59 seconds behind.
In the blue clan, Laurent Muhletahler was smiling again. Patient in the air, the Jurassien produced his most accomplished jump of the season, landing at 131m. After pumping his fist in anger, he told the camera: “We’re not saving the country, but it’s not bad all the same. He will start 11th, at 1 minute 12 seconds.

Another Frenchman was satisfied with his jump: Marco Heinis. In line with his standards, the 13th-placed competitor jumped 134m, which put him in 8th place. He will start with a 1:05 lead. His compatriots, on the other hand, are not looking so good. Edgar Vallet put a lot of verticality into his jump, perhaps too much (115 m, 42nd in 3 min 06). Mattéo Baud confirmed his difficulties on the vault in Trondheim (108.5 m, 50th at 4 min 20). Finally, Gaël Blondeau lacked stability in the air and will start from even further back (101 m, 57th at 5 min 29), in penultimate position.
