Nordic combined: Jarl Magnus Riiber world champion for the ninth time
Leading the way after the ski jumping competition at midday, Norway’s Jens Luraas Oftebro, Gyda Westvold Hansen, Ida Marie Hagen and Jarl Magnus Riiber were out in front in the pursuit on Friday afternoon.
Reigning world champions in this mixed Nordic combined event since their triumph in Planica (Slovenia) two years ago, the foursome beat off the competition to claim a fine gold medal in front of their home crowd. For Jarl Magnus Riiber, who is about to retire, it was the ninth world title of his career.

Behind them, more than a minute behind, the Germans Julian Schmid, Jenny Nowak, Nathalie Armbruster and Vinzenz Geiger took silver, while the Austrians Stefan Rettenegger, Claudia Purker, Lisa Hirner and Johannes Lamparter beat the Japanese to the post in the final sprint to claim bronze.
Sixth place for the French team
Finland is fifth, followed by France with Gaël Blondeau, Léna Brocard, Marion Droz-Vincent and Laurent Muhlethaler in sixth place.

In their first-ever appearance at a World Cup, the French team finished the race in first place, ahead of Slovenia, Italy, the United States and the Czech Republic.
“We’re proud to have fielded a team in this mixed event at the Worlds. Sixth place is where we belong. We didn’t have what it takes to be on the podium, but we’re really pleased and I hope this will be a good start to our world championships,” explained Alexandre Villet, the group’s team leader.
