18:35. Late on Monday afternoon, the German Ski Association (DSV) announced in a media release that Vinzenz Geiger, winner of the Nordic combined crystal globe last winter, had been injured.
He injured his foot during a warm-up before a planned weight-training session in Oberstdorf (Germany), suffering from torn ligaments.
It’s obviously unfortunate, the timing isn’t ideal, but I’m already in my second week of rehabilitation and I’m working hard to get back as soon as possible,” explains Vinzenz Geiger. We still can’t say exactly how long it will take, but of course I hope to be back competing as soon as possible.”
One thing has already been decided: SC Oberstdorf’s Nordic combined team will miss the first two stages of the World Cup in Ruka (Finland) and Trondheim (Germany) at the end of November/beginning of December.
