10:32. The men’s mass-start in Trondheim may have been contested over 10 kilometres, but the peloton waited until the final 500 metres to explain itself on Saturday 6 December at the Norwegian world cup. Only Austria’s Stefan Rettenegger attempted a fleeting breakaway in the first of the four laps.

In the final explanation led by Jens Luraas Oftebro, Germany’s Johannes Rydzek narrowly won ahead of the Norwegian and his compatriot Aleksander Skoglund. Stefan Rettenegger took 4th place, Germany’s Julian Schmid 6th, Norway’s Einar Luraas Oftebro 9th and Austria’s Johannes Lamparter 10th. But the top 14 are all within two points of each other, so the jump-off at 15:35 will be decisive in determining the ranking of the event.

On the French side, Laurent Muhletahler is 24th (-2.6 points), Gaël Blondeau 28th (-3 pts), Matteo Baud 39th (-5.2 pts), Edgar Vallet 40th (-5.6 pts) and Marco Heinis 49th (-10.3 pts).
