Falun World Championships 2027 : a reassuring organisation
The World Championships in Trondheim (Norway) are proving to be a financial drain on the organisers, despite being a huge popular success. The next Nordic World Ski Championships, in 2027, will be held in Falun (Sweden). Jonas Peterson, CEO of the Swedish organisation, was present in Trondheim (Norway) during the world championships. He also heard about Trondheim’s financial losses.
“It’s worrying, in a way. They had great ambitions and I know how hard they worked to organise a fantastic event. It was an unforgettable memory, and now we’re hearing about heavy financial losses. It’s a new awareness of how we have to manage our process and deal with this problem in the future,” Jonas Peterson told SVT.

Jonas Peterson says that the financial objective of the Falun World Championships is to generate a surplus and leave behind a sum of money that can be put to greater use in the sport and in the region. But it’s too early to say exactly how much. However, he is reassuring.
“I don’t have any concerns. I think the process is effective. We have good experiences with Falun 2015. The project is similar in many ways, even if each championship has its own conditions. It’s a question of defining your processes, getting to grips with the problem and controlling the orders. Both in terms of revenues and costs”, explains Jonas Peterson pragmatically.
The Nordic World Ski Championships will be held from 24 February to 7 March 2027 in Falun, Sweden.
