Nordic skiing : the World Cup opens this Friday in Finland
Hostilities are about to begin in earnest. This Friday, the cross-country skiing world cup kicks off in Ruka, Finland. The programme includes a classic 10-kilometre individual race to kick off the winter on this circuit. And cross-country skiers won’t be the only ones taking part in the Finnish events.
After the pocket jump on Friday, the men’s combined event will also make its debut in the individual compact, while the jumpers will also be taking part, a week after kicking off their winter on the Lillehammer ski jump (Norway).

The cross-country skiers will also be competing in a classic sprint and a skate mass-start, while the combined skiers will be competing in a gundersen on Saturday, followed by a mass-start on Sunday. The jumpers will be vying for victory twice, on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
