10:48. Late on Thursday, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced in a press release that the Russian Ski Federation, the Russian Paralympic Committee and twelve athletes had lodged an appeal against the FIS’s decision to ban them from taking part in the qualifiers for the Milan/Cortina 2026 Games.
The appeal, submitted on 5 November, was made by two Nordic athletes in particular: cross-country runner Saveliy Korostelev, double world junior champion in 2022, and jumper Danil Sadreev, Olympic team bronze medallist in 2022.

“The Appellants request the CAS to order FIS :
- to allow the participation of the above-mentioned athletes, all other athletes, support staff and officials from Russia as Individual Neutral Athletes (INAs) in all FIS events, including the qualifying events for the Olympic Games in Milan/Cortina 2026 as well as in the Games themselves, in accordance with the IOC eligibility criteria for INAs
- to allow the participation of the above-mentioned para-athletes, all other Russian para-athletes, support staff and officials, in all FIS competitions, including the qualifying events for the Milan/Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games, as well as at the Games themselves, under the same conditions as any other para-athlete
In accordance with the CAS procedure, the parties are currently exchanging their written submissions and an arbitration tribunal is in the process of being set up. A hearing will be scheduled with the agreement of the parties.
