It’s a soap opera that’s not coming to an end in Norway at the moment, due to the huge financial losses incurred following the Trondheim 2025 World Championships. A complex situation, accompanied by clearly negative figures, which has been enriched in recent hours by a new chapter, with
with the opening of an investigation by the Trondheim municipality.
“One of the most important initiatives we have ever carried out in this city has resulted in the financial crisis of a company. This is a serious breach of trust. We have to be totally honest and say that this has happened at the expense of other important council tasks. This is a price that, as a city, we were prepared to pay. That’s why our citizens deserve clear answers. They deserve to know why this story ended the way it did,” said Gjermund Bungum Gorset, a member of the Labour Party and chairman of Trondheim’s Municipal Supervisory Committee, as reported in VG.

The investigation is due to start in August and will last several months, so it will be a long time before we know the results and who is responsible for Trondheim 2025’s economic collapse. All the activities of the company – “Ski-VM Trondheim 2025 AS” – from the time it was founded in 2021 will be scrutinised.
