Ski jumping | Nordic combined: after the scandal, the FIS takes measures
On the part of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), measures are still being taken following the scandal that occurred during the big hill competition at the Trondheim World Championships (Norway), with the disqualifications of Marius Lindvik and Johann Andre Forfang.
The FIS announced on Wednesday evening that changes will be made to the equipment control policy for the remainder of the 2024/2025 season. These measures will be implemented from this Thursday onwards at the World Cup competitions in Oslo-Holmenkollen (Norway). Here is the list of these measures:
- Each athlete will be authorised to use a single wetsuit until the end of the season. A second wetsuit may be provided in the event of irreparable damage.
- FIS equipment inspectors will be checking each suit individually, with the respective athletes, before the Oslo-Holmenkollen World Cup races get underway this Thursday.
- For each competition until the end of the season, all suits will be kept by the FIS and can be collected by each athlete approximately 30 minutes before their training or competition. All athletes must return their wetsuits to the FIS equipment controller within 30 minutes of their jump.

“Given the seriousness of the case in Trondheim, we felt it necessary to immediately adapt our suit inspection policy for the rest of the season. This will allow a more efficient control of the equipment, as our controllers will have more time to carry out tests. We hope that these measures will also demonstrate the attention that the FIS is paying to this issue. We are counting on the full support of the teams to guarantee the most important thing: fair competition until the end of the season”, said race directors Sandro Pertile (ski jumping) and Lasse Ottesen (Nordic combined) in an FIS press release.
