Biathlon: Eric Perrot follows in the footsteps of Martin Fourcade and Quentin Fillon-Maillet
Early on Tuesday afternoon, Eric Perrot competed in his very first individual biathlon race at the Olympic Games. In Antholz (Italy), it was in the individual speciality – in which he is the reigning world champion – that he lined up. He scored 19/20 on the mats, beaten only by Norway’s Johan-Olav Botn (20/20).
With his silver medal, the Peiserot won his second medal of the fortnight, two days after winning gold in the mixed relay. More importantly, he becomes the third French individual Olympic medallist after Martin Fourcade and Quentin Fillon-Maillet, who won in 2014 and 2022 respectively.
At the same time, Eric Perrot became the seventh Frenchman to win an individual medal at the Olympic Games. He follows in the footsteps of Martin Fourcade and Quentin Fillon-Maillet, as well as Raphaël Poirée, Vincent Defrasne, Vincent Jay and Jean-Guillaume Béatrix.
