Biathlon: Eric Perrot, a second Olympic medal in two races
On Tuesday in Antholz (Italy), Eric Perrot became the seventh French biathlete to win an Olympic medal in an individual event. The Peiserot excelled in the individual format, which was 20km long with a shooting error costing a one-minute penalty.
Author of the 19/20, he was only beaten by Norway’s Johan-Olav Botn, who was crowned some fifteen seconds ahead of him with the perfect shot.

There’s enormous satisfaction in being an individual Olympic medallist,” he toldEurosport. These are great moments. I prepared enormously for this race, I really gave a lot to be ready and I’m happy to have delivered a great race. You have to know when you’re up against something stronger than yourself. I shook a bit on that first stand-up, which Johan-Olav [Botn] didn’t do.
Frustration all the same
Eric Perrot was overwhelmed by a “mix of emotions” after his race. ” There’s a unique joy in being on this Olympic podium because it’s magical, but it’s hard to savour it straight away,” he said on France 2. It has to be said that the boy from Aime-la-Plagne (Savoie) is feeling a touch of frustration.

I wanted to win this race,” he admits. It takes a lot to be Olympic champion. A big well done to Johan-Olav [Botn] who was monstrous with his 20/20. I watched his last shot, I could only wish him the best and he managed to hold on. He was the best today. I have to be satisfied with second place, but I need to digest it.
