Biathlon: first Olympic title for Julia Simon, Lou Jeanmonnot and Eric Perrot
Until now, thirty-four French biathletes had won at least one medal at the Olympic Winter Games. Biathlon, a huge source of podium finishes in the competition, added two more lines to this list on Sunday with the title won by Eric Perrot, Lou Jeanmonnot, Quentin Fillon-Maillet and Julia Simon in the mixed relay at Antholz (Italy).
The first two are the latest additions to this catalogue, which began with the 1992 Albertville Olympics and now includes thirty-six pages. Above all, Eric Perrot, Lou Jeanmonnot and Julia Simon became Olympic champions for the very first time in their careers.

They join the ranks of French gold medallists in the competition, joining Martin Fourcade (6 titles), Quentin Fillon-Maillet (3), Marie Dorin-Habert (1) and Anne Briand (1), Véronique Claudel (1), Corinne Niogret (1), Simon Desthieux (1), Anaïs Bescond (1), Vincent Defrasne (1), Florence Baverel (1), Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (1) and Vincent Jay (1).
It’s worth noting that Julia Simon from Beaufort (one gold, one silver), with her first Olympic title, has jumped from nineteenth to fifth place among the most decorated French biathletes at the Olympic Games.
