Biathlon: Océane Michelon is now an Olympic medallist
On Saturday afternoon, Savoyard Océane Michelon entered the great book of French biathlon by becoming runner-up in the Olympic sprint in Antholz (Italy). After shooting 10/10 and coming out on top in the standing sprint, she finished just 3.8 seconds ahead of Norway’s Maren Kirkeeide (10/10), who won the title.
She thus becomes the tenth French individual Olympic medallist in history , following in the footsteps of Lou Jeanmonnot, Julia Simon, Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, Anaïs Bescond, Marie-Laure Brunet, Marie Dorin-Habert, Florence Baverel, Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet and Anne Briand.
Finally, with Lou Jeanmonnot, they take the first Olympic medals for the French team in the sprint format since Marie Dorin-Habert won bronze in 2010. Before that, Florence Baverel won gold in 2006.
