2026 Olympics: France’s sixteenth medal comes from the biathlon
Until then, it was in 2014 and 2018 that the French Olympic team left the Olympic Winter Games with the most medals, fifteen. Equalled on Sunday, this historic mark was surpassed this Tuesday afternoon thanks to the gold medal won by Fabien Claude, Emilien Jacquelin, Quentin Fillon-Maillet and Eric Perrot in the men’s biathlon relay.
It was also the ninth medal won by the French biathletes since the start of the 2026 Olympic Games.
With five days still to go at the Milan/Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, the French can still amass a number of medals and, in so doing, set a new, much higher historical record.
